REVIEW: Kill Switch By Penelope Douglas
Synopsis:
"I've done far worse than what I went to prison for. She has no idea how bad this can get."
WINTER
Sending him to prison was the worst thing I could've done. It didn't matter that he did the crime or that I wished he was dead. Perhaps I thought I'd have time to disappear before he got out or he'd cool off in jail and be anything but the horror he was.
But I was wrong. Three years came and went too fast, and now he's anything but calm. Prison only gave him time to plan.
And while I anticipated his vengeance, I didn't expect this.
He doesn't want to make me hurt. He wants to make everything hurt.
DAMON
First thing's first. Get rid of her daddy. He told them I forced her. He told them his little girl was a victim, but I was a kid, too, and she wanted it just as much as I did.
Step two... Give her, her sister, and her mother nowhere to run and no fuel to escape. The Ashby women are alone now and desperate for a knight in shining armor.
But that's not what's coming.
No, it's time I listened to my father and took control of my future. It's time I showed them all--my family, her family, my friends--that I will never change and that I have no other ambition than to be the nightmare of their lives.
Starting with her.
She'll be so scared, she won't even be safe in her own head by the time I'm done with her. And the best part is I won't have to break into her home to do it.
As the new man of the house I have all the keys.
*Kill Switch is a romantic suspense suitable for readers 18+. It is advised to read Corrupt (Devil's Night #1) and Hideaway (Devil's Night #2) prior to reading this book. Both are available on Kindle Unlimited.
Review:
Oh my lord. Penelope Douglas just keeps getting better with each book she writes, and this series in particular is just getting more and more shocking, and amazing as it goes on.
"How I'd never hated anyone as much as I hated him, but how I loved
what I felt with him more than I loved anything I felt with anyone
else, either."
I honestly wasn't too sure about how much I was going to like this one, because I really haven't been a fan of Damon in the past two books. What with all of the horrible and messed up things he puts his friends through. I wasn't sure how she was going to redeem him.
But Kill Switch delves so much deeper into who Damon is and why he is the way he is. It doesn't make excuses for the horrible things he's done in the past, but it shows you why he is the way he is and helps you truly understand him. And honestly after reading this book, despite everything he has done, Damon is my favorite out of all the guys so far. I say so far because I'm still waiting for Will's book. 😉
The character development we see from Damon is amazing. And I absolutely loved Winter. She is so strong. Which all of Penelopes characters are. She sure does know how to write a strong female lead. Winters character is so strong and resilient through all of the, sometimes horrible, things that Damon puts her through.
"The beauty in life is what we live for, and it's everywhere.
You just have to look closer."
These two together will melt your freaking heart, and set it on fire at the same time. The plot, and the dark twisty turns in this book are phenomenal. I'm not quite sure where this dark saga is headed, but wherever it ends up I am here and ready for it.
Penelope is an amazing writer. Do yourself a favor and pick up this book, because believe me, you won't regret it. And also make sure to check out the awesome playlist she has created for it. It makes the reading experience even more epic.
"People are a blend of external and internal influences, not all
controlled variables. Sometimes, just sometimes, we are who we are.
Even in the sea, a snake is a snake."- Penelope Douglas, Kill
Switch.
