REVIEW: American Queen By Sierra Simone

SYNOPSIS:

It starts with a stolen kiss under an English sky, and it ends with a walk down the aisle. It starts with the President sending his best friend to woo me on his behalf, and it ends with my heart split in two. It starts with buried secrets and dangerous desires…and ends with the three of us bound together with a hateful love sharper than any barbed wire.

My name is Greer Galloway, and I serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States.

This is the story of an American Queen.

REVIEW:

This is my first read from Sierra Simone, though it definitely won't be my last. I know this book is extremely hot, I mean damn, but one thing I wanted to really talk about is her writing. This woman seriously has a way with words. In some places it was so beautiful, almost lyrical at times.

The story telling was so well done, I didn't want to put this one down. Unfortunately life get's in the way of our reading some times, so rude I know, so I wasn't able to finish this book in one sitting. But let me tell you, every second I wasn't reading all I was thinking about was getting back to this book and these characters.

I love the fact that it brings you back and forth from present time to the past. Several times we actually get the scenes that the characters are mentioning to each other, and I love that.

"Suddenly what Ash said back in the bedroom makes sense. Jealousy is a word with too many meanings. It’s a TARDIS of a word, bigger on the inside, a small, mean thing on the surface, but a complicated dance of emotions and negotiations within. I’m suffering with every single meaning of the word jealous."

I loved all three of these characters. Greer is so strong and resilient, even while submitting to Ash. Ash, Ash is hot as hell, but also such a complicated and deep character. Embry, poor haunted and tortured, Embry. He honestly might be my favorite out of all three, but I still have two more books to read, so we'll see.

Like I mentioned before this book is hot as hell! Whew! Damn some of these scenes. 😅

"What’s the point of sex if you don’t feel like every dark crevice of your soul has been exposed to the light?"

But these characters and this story goes way beyond just the sex, the way that all three of them interacted, and the love that they share. It melts your heart.

I absolutely love the way that Sierra can tie in the hot as hell scenes, but also have such a bigger story and world going on beyond that. Her storytelling is impeccable.

"I saw that you can be hurt—mortally wounded, in fact—and it doesn’t have to be anyone’s fault. Sometimes the world is just cruel that way, and it wasn’t fair to begrudge them their happiness even as it tore down my own."

If you want a book that is hot as hell, addictive, with amazing storytelling, this is it. And after that ending you are 100% going to want to have the next one at the ready. 😉
