ARC Review - First and Forever by Jay McLean
Synopsis:
First and Forever is the second book in the Heartache Duet, and must be read after Heartache and Hope.
Duet Synopsis:
Ava Diaz needs saving.
She just doesn’t know it yet.
Just like she doesn’t know a thing about the boy she sits next to on the first day of senior year.
He thinks she’s a brat.
She thinks he’s entitled.
Maybe first impressions don’t always last…
Because Connor Ledger’s about to save her.
He just doesn’t know why.
Review:
☕️☕️☕️☕️This duet is so heartbreaking, uplifting, powerful. It's beautiful, it's a story about two people dealing with their own trauma and heartbreak, all the while navigating through their youth and growing up, all while feeling this crazy once in a lifetime love for each other.
But sometimes even love isn't enough to get you through some of the toughest times in your life. Sometimes you just gotta make it through it with your own strength.
"You're my girl, Ava. My first and Forever."
This book will make you laugh, cry, want to throw your kindle/book at times, but it is one of the most beautiful stories I've ever ever read.
Connor and Ava both go through so much, but through it all their love for each other never wavers.
"Then he clears his throat, his voice low and meant only for me: "When the world is at it's darkest..." I gasp. "...that's when the magic appears."
I loved getting to see not just Connor and Ava's development but both of their families as well.
Ava's mom and Connor's dad's stories are just as heartbreaking as their children's, but getting to see their stories develop as well was something I really enjoyed.
And Trevor, ugh, I could go on and on about all of these characters, because Jay makes you feel it all for everyone of them. They are all just as important to this story as Ava and Connor are. They are one big family.
This book was the perfect conclusion to Ava and Connors story. I absolutely loved it.
"I kiss her. Without pause. Without heartache. I take everything she is, because right now, all of her is all for me, and it's always been like that. Even on her bad days, and even when things got too much, she never never stopped loving me. Never."
Don't think twice about picking this duet up. It is amazing and you need these books in your life.
