ARC Review - Lies by Kylie Scott

Synopsis:

Betty Dawsey knows that breaking things off with Thom Lange is for the best. He’s nice, but boring, and their relationship has lost its spark. But steady and predictable Thom, suddenly doesn’t seem so steady and predictable when their condo explodes and she’s kidnapped by a couple of crazies claiming that Thom isn’t who he says he is. 

Thom is having a hellish week. Not only is he hunting a double agent, but his fiancé dumped him, and thanks to his undercover life, she’s been kidnapped. 

Turns out Thom is Operative Thom and he’s got more than a few secrets to share with Betty if he’s going to keep her alive. With both their lives on the line, their lackluster connection is suddenly replaced by an intense one. But in his line of work, feelings aren’t wanted or desired. Because feelings can be a lethal distraction.

This book was so rephreshing. It is so much fun to read. Kylie really did something unique with this one. It might just be that I don't read a lot in this genre, but I really felt like I haven't read any other book quite like this one and that was really nice. 

If you are looking for an action packed romantic comedy, this is the book for you. It will have you laughing, and anticipating what craziness is going to happen next. This action starts from the first chapter and doesn't let up. 

It's a very lighthearted, fun, action packed read.

It had me hooked from the start. I found myself laughing out loud at the humor. Betty was hilarious. I loved her and her antics. 

One thing I've always loved about Kylie's writing is how realistic it is, while still giving you that romantic fiction that we all want. 

"Guess it isn't until you know someone's a liar that you know to really look. As he said, don't trust your eyes. They can deceive you far too easil."

Betty was my favorite, but I really enjoyed all of the crazy side characters, they make the story so much fun.

And of course we can't forget our operative Thom, who is pretty bland in the beginning but when he does open up with Betty you grow to love him pretty quickly. 

I love their interactions through the book as he's learning how to open up and joke around, and Betty is just so sarcastic and sassy, I love it.

"We're going to stay. We're going to fight and we're going to fix this."

As always I love Kylie Scott's writing. This one is different than the rest of her books in a good way. Definitely pick this one up and enjoy the action packed fun ride with Betty and Operative Thom!
