Bryce Quinlan had the perfect life-working hard all day and partying all night-until a demon murdered her closest friends, leaving her bereft, wounded, and alone. When the accused is behind bars but the crimes start up again, Bryce finds herself at the heart of the investigation. She'll do whatever it takes to avenge their deaths.

Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose-to assassinate his boss's enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he's offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach.

As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into Crescent City's underbelly, they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear, and they find, in each other, a blazing passion-one that could set them both free, if they'd only let it.

With unforgettable characters, sizzling romance, and page-turning suspense, this richly inventive new fantasy series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas delves into the heartache of loss, the price of freedom-and the power of love.

Review:

I'll admit I was a little bit skeptical about this book. I have seen a lot of mixed reviews, but I am very happy to say that I absolutely loved this it!

Sarah did a fantastic job. The world building was done very well, and there is a lot to learn in the beginning of the book. And the plot, oh my gosh. The plot had me interested through the whole book, but those last couple hundred pages were intense!

I loved all of the characters. Danika and Bryces friendship is goals.
And obviously we can't forget about Bryce and Hunt. Holy shit.
The development we get to see from these two throughout the book is so good. And the banter and humor is on point! I loved it.

"That's the point of it, Bryce. Of life. To live, to love, knowing it might all vanish tomorrow. It makes everything that much more precious."

Bryce is amazing. Her character development throughout the book is truly one of my favorite parts. She is a damn queen in her own right, and I am so damn excited to see where the story will take her in the next book.

Hunt, the Umbra Mortis, ugh. He's so moody and brooding in the beginning of the book. He's had to be so brutal for most of his life and watching him slowly let Bryce in and let himself be soft with her. Be still my heart. ♥️

I love fantasy, but its been awhile since I've read one that has gripped me the way that House of Earth and Blood did.

It has amazing characters, awesome world building and politics, keep you on your toes action, lots of sexual tension, and just overall an amazing plot and story. It all unravels throughout the book so well.

I know its only March, but this book is definitely one of my favorites of the year. It made it onto my favorites list on Goodreads, of all time.

This is the perfect, well written, fantasy to get you hooked and have you disappearing into another world while reading. This book is something else and the wait for the sequel is going to be freaking torture!

I definitely recommend this book. If you are hesitant like I was I encourage you to take the leap. This book is amazing.

"Through love, All is possible"
