Words are my weapon.
Stories wrap around my soul, choking me, capturing you.
I don't work in dreams.
I don't offer escapes.
I cage you within my nightmares.

Magnolia Grace is a horror writer, despite what the name might suggest.
One of the best in the business, if you asked around.
Pressure comes with that title. Expectation for the next nightmare. The next bestseller.
Sickness.
That's what it is.
She can't be healthy. Because that means she won't write.
And she hasn't been writing.
A looming deadline and a crumbling psyche drive her into the woods. To a cabin which was the site of a grizzly murder.
A serial killer, butchering women, toying with her.
Her plan is to borrow some of the horror that seeped into the soil.
But hers follows her.
The woods are meant to be her escape. But they are almost her demise.
Almost.
He was an unlikely saviour. An unexpected muse. He has horrors of his own. A motorcycle club looking to settle a score. A soul too broken to offer her anything but pain.

Review:

This is one of those books that makes writing a review hard. Like the words that I come up with are not eloquent enough to do this book justice, but I’m going to do my best.

This is the first book that I’ve read of Anne Malcom's, and it most definitely won’t be my last. Splinters of You was different than anything that I usually read in the sense that I usually stick to romance, and this is dark suspense. I usually need the romance to keep me interested, and I like more dialogue between the characters, rather than internal thought. There is a relationship in this book, but I would not consider Splinters of You a romance because it does not focus on the romance aspect. It’s more so about the story. So, basically this book is everything that usually turns me off. Yet it didn’t. It did the exact opposite.

I was up way too late reading this book. I had disappeared into the world that Anne Malcom has created and I was completely captivated. I couldn’t stop reading. Her writing is amazing. This story and all of its dark gritty corners sucks you right in and keeps you until the end. And even then I found myself still wanting more.

This book is dark. It doesn’t shy away from the ugly of reality. The darkness that is in a lot of people. This book shows you the side that people tend to try and ignore and pretend isn’t there. Magnolia was so unapologetically herself no matter her flaws, and all of her darkest parts. She never tried to be anyone but herself. Her honesty was so refreshing.

This book was so not what I was expecting. I loved it. I loved the characters, the plot and the story, all of the dark and gritty pieces that put this book together. It was an amazing read. I feel like if you enjoy Tarryn Fishers books, then you would love Splinters of You. Writing wise, both authors are very honest.
