Review:

This was my first read from both of these authors, and I am absolutely blown away!

I started reading this book expecting a beachy summer read with some murder mystery mixed in, and while it is that, it’s also so much more. This book is full of drama, suspense, angst, love, friendship, and so much more. I mean, you name it, and this book made me feel it.

"Love doesn't happen overnight. It's like a cliff overlooking the ocean. The ocean has to cut and work at the rock. The earth has to push and break and build to form it. Thousands of years pass in a blink, and then you have this beautiful testament to time and perseverance."

The writing is fantastic. It draws you right into the story, and it’s so beautiful. You really feel everything that Breeze is feeling throughout the story. Her struggles of coping with losing her best friend, dealing with having feelings for both boys who were important to Violet, and are now becoming the center of her world, and the guilt that comes with that. Poor Breeze couldn’t catch a break, but I loved that they didn't just portray her as a strong charcater that is unaffected by the things going on in her life. They did an amazing job of showing her struggles and her working her way through them and coming out the other side stronger for that.

It is a love triangle, and I was conflicted in the beginning, I definitely knew who I wanted her to end up with, but it was nerve racking not know which way it would go. But fear not, in this aspect, it all works out perfectly in the end.

"They say the ocean can smell your fear. It's why you have to dive into every ride with all you've got. You never know when it will be your last. And if you're going to wipe out, you might as well do it chasing the wave of your life."

And speaking of nerve racking, the plot. I can honestly say I did not see a few key things coming. I mean, I was jaw dropping shocked.  The storyline keeps you gripped the whole time, and it wound up being a pretty fast read for me because I needed answers, pronto!
Oh, man. I was glued to the pages. This is one of the few books that have truly surprised me. I love it when I can’t tell what is going to happen, and CoraLee June and Carrie Gray did a fantastic job on that part.

It does end on a note that a lot of people would consider a cliffhanger, so just be aware of that before starting if that’s not your thing. As far as I’m aware, there aren’t any plans for more books as of right now. Though I would totally be down for that! 😂

"This year taught me that, in the end, we aren't a collection of the things we've done wrong. We aren't even a collection of the good, either. We're just souls traveling through time. trying to survive. Trying to find love and meaning and happiness. We're all just temporary blips on a big, spinning sphere."

Overall it was a really great, well written, summer read with action, lots of angst, and romance. The storyline and plot will have you on edge the whole time. You definitely don’t want to miss out on this one!
